Eligibility Quiz

For each question, please select the answer most appropriate to your organisation.
  1. Do you represent
    • At present, we do not support co-operatives or housing associations. Exceptions to this rule are confined to existing partnerships.
    • We do not offer funding to individuals, only UK registered charities and organisations with officially recognised charitable status.
    • Our Trustees consider applications from cathedrals for capital projects at our October meeting.
    • We receive many applications from regional charities that are affiliated with a national body. Examples include regional Home-Starts, regional Carers Trusts and regional YMCAs. While we will consider these applications, we recognise that we are unable to support them all, and applications are very unlikely to be successful. Trustees will generally prioritise applications from the national bodies.
    • We only fund registered charities and organisations with officially recognised charitable status.
  2. Which of the following categories best describes your organisation?
    • We do not normally give grants for schools, colleges, universities or other educational establishments. We occasionally make exceptions for institutions with which we have a long-standing funding relationship.
    • We do not give grants for museums, galleries, libraries, exhibitions or heritage attractions
    • We do not give grants for hospices, hospitals, nursing homes or residential care homes.
    • Excluding a few rare exceptions to organisations with which we have a long-standing relationship, we do not fund charities which primarily regrant. If you primarily regrant and have been funded by the Trust before, please contact the office and we will advise on next steps.
    • We do not make grants to individual churches. Instead, we support churches through our grants to selected Community Foundations and the National Churches Trust. Applications should be made directly to them.
  3. What is your organisation's annual income? Please note that we are referring to the income in your charity's most recent set of published accounts.
    • The Trust will consider applications from newly established charities – by this, we mean charities established in the last two years, which do not yet have an income of £200,000, provided they meet the Trust's other eligibility criteria.
    • We support charities with an income above £200,000. If your charity has finished the most recent financial year with income of at least £200,000 but does not yet have published accounts, we are happy to consider an application. In this case please select the option 'Between £200,000 and £10 million' and indicate this is the case in your application.
    • We consider applications with an income between £200,000 and £10 million, although priority is generally given to small-medium sized charities with an income between £200,000 and £3 million where our funding will have a greater impact.
    • We have an upper annual income threshold of £10 million and do not support charities with income above this.
  4. Where does your charity operate?
    • We do not fund work delivered in Greater London. Charities solely operating in London and with no plans to expand are not eligible to apply to the Trust.
    • We do not fund work which is delivered in Northern Ireland or organisations which are solely registered with the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland.
    • We fund charities with a broad geographical reach working in England (excluding London), Scotland and Wales.
    • We fund work delivered by UK-registered charities in Kenya and Uganda. Please note that this category is restricted to charities that have a long association with the Trust. It is extremely unusual for us to take on new partners and we recommend contacting the team if you are interested in applying to this category but have not previously received Dulverton funding.
    • We only fund charities registered in England, Scotland or Wales delivering work within those countries or in Kenya and Uganda. Funding for work in other parts of the world is limited and confined to our invitation-only International Stability and Reconstruction category.

In England, we prioritise organisations delivering their work across at least two regions (by region, we mean the North West, North East, Yorkshire, West Midlands, East Midlands, East of England, South East and South West).
