Volunteer Support

Reach Volunteering supports charities throughout the UK to recruit trustees and skilled volunteers who have professional expertise, to join their boards or to take on operational roles. Their volunteers all have at least 3 years expertise – many have a lot more than this – and come from a huge range of professions including marketing, finance, strategy, communications, HR, business development, digital and IT.

Areas covered include trusteeship, mentoring, advisory, hands-on operational roles, short term projects – in fact any type of volunteering that requires professional expertise – have a look at their full listings to get a better idea of the range of ways that skilled volunteers could help your organisation.

The core service is free to all charities (they ask for a contribution if you are recruiting trustees and your turnover exceeds £1 million).  You simply post up your volunteer opportunity to the Reach Volunteering site and then wait for applications or proactively approach suitable looking volunteers and ask them to consider your role. The Media Trust’s Volunteer Platform makes it quicker and easier than ever before for charities and community groups to recruit and secure skilled volunteers from across the Media and Creative industry.

Whether you’re looking for a volunteer to review a press release, develop marketing strategies, create social media plans and campaigns or produce a film or logo, now you can:

  • quickly and easily request skilled media and communications volunteers
  • access volunteers from across the media and creative industry, including Media Trust Corporate Partners such as: Google, BBC, Channel 4, Facebook, Weber Shandwick and Ogilvy.
  • review and select volunteers that have the unique communications skills and experience required to support your communications activities.

Once you are registered, you will be able to post requests for volunteers, review volunteer profiles and manage your volunteering activity from your own personal dashboard.

As a charity, Media Trust works in partnership with the creative and media industry to give marginalized groups a stronger voice. They do this by promoting skills-based volunteering, empowering young people from diverse backgrounds to work in media and encouraging constructive dialogue and collaboration with the media sector. By bridging the gap between the media and creative industries and charities & under-represented communities Media Trust are contributing to a more responsible, representative and connected media sector and ultimately, a more socially cohesive Britain.
